Allison Oslund, CIS Communications & Marketing, welcomed attendees and made several announcements. The old Neo server will be decommissioned will occur when classes start. Customer communication is almost complete; meanwhile, encourage your departments to archive any remaining email or contacts.
The IT Forum advisory council has met three times and will continue to meet bi-weekly. This advisory group will provide advice and recommendations to Dr. Cantrell on various campus IT issues. Council members will be relaying important information back to their departments.
Willis Marti, Networking Director and Chief Information Security Officer, made an announcement about rejecting mail servers with no name. This change will take place prior to the start of class. If you need assistance with complying with this change, please contact Networking.
Matt Herzberger from TEES Communications presented information about web accessibility. He covered why web accessibility is important, which rules university web developers need to follow, and useful resources, tips, and best practices that help you with compliance.
Walt Magnussen, Director of Telecommunications, gave an update on several campus projects. He provided overviews of Code Maroon, the campus emergency notification service; the Distributed Antenna System, which will enhance cell phone service on campus; and Voice-over-IP, to replace traditional phone systems.
