CAS 3 Update

Tom Golson, Chief Systems Engineer in Infrastructure Services, presented an update on CAS 3. The system is in production with the URL: cas.tamu.edu/cas, and CAS 2 will be retired on January 11, 2010. For CAS 3 updates and announcements, subscribe to TAMU-AUTH@LISTSERV.TAMU.EDU.  

Howdy Class Rosters and Grade Entry

Venesa Flores, Senior Functional Lead for EIS, demonstrated the new class roster and grade entry functions in Howdy. Faculty will now use howdy.tamu.edu to access class rosters and post grades. These new features are being presented to faculty, advisers, help desk staff, and at IT Forum to ensure a smooth transition to this new system.

Project Management Office Development

Willis Marti, Chief Information Security Officer, introduced the topic of a project management office, and provided some background on the need for the office and its expected function. He then introduced Alison Winslow, Project Management Office Coordinator,  who discussed the purpose, requirements, scope and responsibilities of the Texas A&M Project Management Office(PMO). She also stated the next steps in developing this office: 
  • Staffing the PMO
  • Classifying projects
  • Developing a project management assessment and compliance tool
