Michael Bolton, CIS Operating Systems, welcomed all guests and provided an overview of the new IT Forum format. Topics covered included Networking and Security Update, Google Search Appliance, Portal Overview, and Operating Systems Update (CAS 3.0, SSPR)

Email Evolution and Password Management - January 30, 2008
Topics covered included an update on credit card processing requirements, ISAAC, and TAMULink wireless. The upcoming email upgrades and changes to account management were discussed.

TAMULink Expansion and Preparing for ISAAC - February 20, 2008
Upcoming changes to wireless on campus were discussed. Information was presented about ISAAC, the information security risk assessment for the information technology resources that every department is required to perform.

Campus Authentication Scheme and TAMU Web Site - March 26, 2008
Topics covered included updates to the campus authentication schemes and the Texas A&M web site. Recent and upcoming changes to account management, and a clarification of confidential information were also discussed.

Special Q&A Session and Network Infrastructure Update - April 23, 2008
In an extended question-and-answer session, many topics covered in previous IT Forum meetings were discussed. Network and wireless infrastructure updates were also presented.

Special Presentation on IT Security by Dan Cornell, Denim Group - May 14, 2008
The IT Forum featured a special guest speaker, Dan Cornell, principal of the San Antonio-based Denim Group. His presentation topic was "Static Analysis Techniques for Testing Application Security"

DMCA and Mobile Data Security - June 25, 2008
Upcoming changes to email provisioning to admitted students and decommissioning date of the Neo server were presented. Topics covered included the DMCA notice process and campus mobile device security issues.

Web Accessibility and Telecommunications Update - July 30, 2008
Useful resources, tips, and best practices for web accessibility were presented. Campus telecommunications updates including voice-over-IP and the distributed antennae project were described.

IT Policy Review - August 27, 2008
Several new and updated policies were presented, covering vendor access, security cameras, specialized system development, and encryption. A short review of ISAAC was also given, and announcements were made about recent updates to VPAPIT web sites and the new Compass student information system.

Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, Supercomputing at TAMU - September 24, 2008
Business continuity and disaster recovery planning, and strategies were discussed. Updates on high performance computing at Texas A&M were presented, along with information about the Supercomputing 08 conference in Austin this November.

Information Security Awareness Open Mic Session & Account Management Update - Oct. 22, 2008
October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Texas A&M is participating in this event for the first time with a campaign geared towards students. A discussion on increasing information security awareness in departments and on campus was held. Recent updates to account management applications found on http://gateway.tamu.edu were also presented.

CAS 3 Deployment and TAMU System Updates - January 28, 2009
Topics covered included CAS 3 Deployment, Social Security Number Scanning Software, and the Internet2 Wireless Infrastructure Pilot. In addition, updates were given on the IT Advisory committee and TAMU System Regulations and SAPs.

SIMS to Compass Conversion and ISAAC 2009 Season - February 25, 2009
Changes for the 2009 ISAAC season, and the conversion from SIMS to Compass were discussed.  In addition, an announcement was made about Identity Finder.  Also, many audience questions were addressed regarding all three topics.

Campus Encryption and Social Networking - April 22, 2009
The progress of the campus encryption project, and some opportunities and warnings of Social Networking were discussed. In addition, announcements were made about Identity Finder and LDAP updates.

CAS Changes and Search Engine Optimization - May 27, 2009
The conversion from CAS 2 to CAS 3 and the Texas A&M Google Search Appliance were discussed.  In addition, announcements were made about Code Maroon, UINs, and the June Guest Speaker.

LDAP and Shibboleth Update, and Understanding Security Threats - June 24, 2009
Guest Speaker Bryan Sartin discussed Security Threats as reported in Verizon's 2009 Data Breach Investigations Report, and Tom Golson gave an update on Shibboleth and the Enterprise Directory. In addition, announcements were made about SIMS and Social Security Number Scanning.

Campus Wireless and Bite-Sized SOA - July 29, 2009
Guest Speaker Jamie Horgan discussed Bite-Sized SOA, and Rob Brenner and Justin Hao gave an update on campus wireless.  In addition, announcements were made about Code Maroon and the IT training vendor.

Identity Management Panel Discussion and Mail Relay Update - August 26, 2009
A five member panel answered questions about identity management and its implementation at Texas A&M. In addition, Tom Golson presented a mail relay update, and Willis Marti gave updates on vendor access and PGP encryption.

Project Management Office Development and Howdy Class Rosters and Grade Entry - September 23, 2009
New features in Howdy and the development of Texas A&M's Project Management Office were discussed. In addition, an announcement was made about the conversion from CAS 2 to CAS 3.

The Anatomy of an Attack, Sophos Guest Speaker - October 28, 2009
Chet Wisniewski, Sophos guest speaker, presented the Anatomy of an Attack, a presentation and live malware demonstration. Also, Willis Marti presented announcements on CAS 3, TAMULink 802.11n and PGP Encryption.
